Dear Legislator, As your constituent I respectfully request that you please support HB 6015, Protecting Consumer Access to Complementary and Alternative Health Care. This bill is needed to protect both consumers and practitioners who provide services to health seekers in Connecticut, including herbalists, traditional naturopaths, wellness consultants, and many others. HB 6015 is similar to bills that have already passed into law in eleven other states. Connecticut’s bill will provide an exemption to state occupational licensure for those non-invasive complementary and alternative health care practitioners who (1) avoid a specific list of prohibited conduct, such as puncturing the skin or administering prescription drugs or telling people to go off their treatments recommended by their licensed health care professional, and (2) give out the disclosure information listed in the bill, such as contact information, education and training, and the nature of the services to be rendered. This bill was introduced by Representative Ferraro and assigned to the Joint Committee on Public Health on January 28, 2021. HB 6015 is important to me as I work to maintain and protect my health and the health of my family and other loved ones. Health-seekers deserve to have maximum options protected for them as they work to explore their wellness and health – especially at a time like this.
